"I have shown you in every way, by labouring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, `It is more blessed to give than to receive.' " Acts 20:35
The bishop vows in his ordination to be a good steward over God's money. Specifically he vows not to use God's money as his own. Also the vow is to not consider Church funds as personal funds.
For the past 38 years the Mission in Africa has been a self supported mission. His Grace Bishop Antonious Markos worked as a "tentmaker" missionary for the first ten years in Ethiopia. He used his income as a medical doctor to support the missionary work.
The Mission has no regular source of income besides what the Grace of God gives us. The generous contributions of compassionate people world wide is how the Mission is supported.
Rest assured that every cent and pence that is given is used in integrity. At no time does the Mission seek funds for personal gain. The majority of the funds are used to spread the word of God throughout Africa and to build Coptic churches and training centres. The remainder of the funds are used for the administration of the Bishopric of African Affairs.
But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished ... Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress. ... Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account. Indeed I have all and abound. I am full ... the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father [be] glory forever and ever. Amen.
Philippians 4:8-20
Truly the hand of God is working. We have so many miracles that have occurred. God increases our limited capabilities. When our limited minds do not know how we will feed the five thousand, Jesus blesses and multiplies the little bread and fish we have.
